Fuel injection valve task | Supplying engine with fuel for combustion
Fuel injection valve design | The injection valves are air-envelopped valves. Air from intake manifold is supplied through small drillings to the fuel jet. This results in finer fuel misting.
Fuel injection valve function | The quantity of fuel injected is controlled by the engine control module by means of the injection period. The electromagnetic injection valve contains a valve needle with a top-mounted solenoid armature. The valve needle is guided precisely in the valve body. When the valve is not operating, a coil spring pushes the valve needle onto the sealing seat of the valve body and thus shuts off the fuel outlet opening to the intake manifold of the engine. As soon as the control module actuates the solenoid winding in the valve housing, the armature is raised together with the valve needle, which allows fuel to flow through a calibrated opening. |
