System presentation of crankcase ventilation

4 Check valve
E93 Crankcase heater
(equipment for specific countries)
The crankcase ventilation is a self-contained system which prevents oil vapors and uncombusted hydrocarbons escaping to the atmosphere.
These pollutants are passed to the engine for combustion.
The integrated heater (E93) prevents the crankcase ventilation from freezing up at extremely low temperatures and at cold start.
Crankcase ventilation can be optimally assured over the entire map range as a result of the use of a crankcase vent valve (3) with bypass (2) and integrated check valve (4).
The check valve (4) prevents intake air getting into the crankcase if there is a low vacuum in the intake manifold in certain part load ranges. At the same time crankcase ventilation is assured through the bypass (2).
