From about engine end no. 018000, a modified housing cover is installed.

The new housing cover is made of GG 25 cast iron and replaces the light alloy one.

Two additional holes (arrows) have been made in the housing cover, and two additional threaded holes in the cylinder crankcase.

The seal has been changed from a full face gasket to a beaded seal made of sheet steel with elastomer coating on both sides.

These modifications have been made because of leaks that were occurring at the front radial shaft sealing ring of the housing cover.

In the event of repairs, only the modified housing cover must be installed. Up to about engine end no. 017999, the two additional threaded holes in the cylinder crankcase are not available, so the two additional screws cannot be inserted in these engines.
