Remove/install

Turn steering wheel (2) to center position.

Disconnect ground line of auxiliary battery for park pawl emergency shift mode.

Detach ground line of on-board electrical system battery.

Detach ground line from additional battery.

Insert a Torx screwdriver T20 (6) into the access openings (3) and release the driver's airbag (1) by pushing the retaining clamps (4) one after another left and right.

 Angle (a) = approx. 25°.

Operation steps 5 to 7 are shown.

 Installation: The retaining clip (4) must latch audibly on both sides.

Remove driver's airbag (1) from steering wheel (2) until the electrical connector (5) is accessible.

Disconnect electrical connector (5) and remove driver's airbag (1).

 Installation: Ensure that electrical connector (5) is locked correctly.

Install in the reverse order.



Check

9

Perform function test of horn.

Check Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) using vehicle diagnosis system.


