Remove/install

 Warning

Risk of injury caused by performing testing or repair work on airbag or emergency tensioning retractor units.

Store airbag units with deployment side facing up; do not expose to temperatures greater than 100 °C. When working on these units, disconnect the power supply.

Remove ignition key from ignition lock

Remove screws/bolts (1) on rear of steering wheel and remove airbag unit (4) from steering wheel

Detach horn contact connection line (2) from airbag unit (4)

Disconnect electrical connection (5)

Vehicle with CODE CL4 (Multifunction steering wheel with trip computer)

Remove electrical connector (3) from airbag unit (4)

 Removal lever

Remove airbag unit (4)

 When replacing the airbag unit (4), ensure proper and environmentally friendly disposal.

Replace steering wheel

Only if airbag unit (4) has been triggered.

Install in the reverse order

Connect diagnostic system and perform quick test



Read out fault memory of the Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) and delete fault memory
