Risk of explosion caused by welding or soldering work on closed air conditioning system. Risk of poisoning caused by inhaling overheated refrigerant vapors. Risk of injury to skin and eyes caused by contact with liquid refrigerant.

Never perform welding work on or near a closed air conditioning system. No smoking or open flames. Wear safety glasses and protective gloves. Work only in well ventilated areas. Carry out repair work on the air conditioning system circuit only after the system has been discharged.

Switch off the ignition and remove the transmitter key from the EIS control unit

 On vehicles with code (889) Keyless-Go, press KEYLESS-GO start/stop button repeatedly until ignition is switched off.

Remove Keyless-Go chip card or transmitter key from vehicle and store beyond the reach of the transmitter (at least 2 m).

Connect air conditioning evacuation, recycling and charging unit and evacuate air conditioning system

 Note down suctioned off compressor oil quantity.

 Installation: If the wrong quantity of compressor oil is refilled, then the refrigerant compressor may be damaged.

 Installation: Evacuate, refill and check air conditioner for leaks and proper operation. Replace the quantity of compressor oil noted when evacuating the air conditioning system with new compressor oil and route back to refrigerant circuit.

When replacing components of the air conditioning system, the additional quantity of compressor oil must be noted.

Disconnect electrical connector from refrigerant pressure sensor (B12) or from refrigerant pressure and temperature sensor (B12/2)

Remove refrigerant lines (2) from fluid reservoir (1)

 Seal openings of refrigerant lines (2).

 Installation: Renew sealing rings of refrigerant lines (2) and wet with compressor oil.



Remove left front engine compartment paneling and center front engine compartment paneling

Remove refrigerant lines from line connector (4) of condenser

 Seal openings of refrigerant lines and of line connector (4).

 Installation: Replace sealing rings of refrigerant lines and coat with compressor oil.


