Remove/install

Remove air conditioner housing

Remove evaporator temperature sensor (B10/6)

Disconnect preresistor group connector (9)

Remove screws (11) around circumference of air conditioner housing.

One of the screws (11) is located below the seal on the expansion valve (7).

Carefully remove seal to allow access to screw.

Carefully lift air conditioner housing top section (1) and unhook linkage (arrows) of footwell air flap

Remove evaporator (3) from air conditioner housing bottom section (2)

Installation: Ensure correct seating of gasket (4).

When replacing evaporator (3) observe oil refilling quantity.

Remove expansion valve (7) from evaporator (3)

Installation: Replace sealing rings (5) and moisten with compressor oil when inserting.

Install in the reverse order

Replace fluid reservoir

When replacing the receiver/drier add the prescribed amount of refrigeration oil.

Switch on the air conditioner and allow the engine to idle for roughly 4 minutes.

Dial temperature selector wheel down to the minimum setting (blue),

blower switch to max.

Check air conditioning for proper operation

The air outlet temperature at the center air vent may not sink below +5 °C, or

Perform diagnosis according to Diagnosis Manual.

Inspect the air conditioning circuit for leaks
