1 Start with the "Mercedes star" punch in the window plate at the bottom left (arrow). The tip of the Mercedes star should point upward in the script.
2 Then position the "W" punch with the left edge at the first line in the window plate and punch in.
3 Advance one line in the window plate with each subsequent number punch until the complete vehicle identification number and final Mercedes star has been punched in.
