Risk of suffocation and risk of poisoning caused by inhalation of gaseous and solid components of the exhaust. Risk of poisoning caused by skin contact with solid components of the exhaust.

Wear protective clothing and safety glasses. Use the extraction system. Move people out of the hazard area.

Remove/install

Remove right underfloor paneling.

Disconnect electrical connector (3).

Remove electric line (4) from the bracket (5).

 Installation: Observe routing of electric line (4).

Remove electric line (4) from the heat shields (7, 8).

 Installation: Observe routing of electric line (4).

Unscrew nuts (6) and remove NOx sensor control unit upstream of the SCR catalytic converter (2) from the bracket (5).

Remove NOx sensor upstream of the SCR catalytic converter (1) and remove to one side together with the Noxsensor control unit upstream of the SCR catalytic converter (2) via the front exhaust system (9).

Note on calculation of tightening torque when using insertion or socket tools with various effective lengths

 Installation: Coat thread on the NOx sensor upstream of the SCR catalytic converter (1) with heat-resistant lubricating paste.

Install in the reverse order

Connect vehicle diagnosis system and adapt software calibration number in the CDI control unit.

If the NOx sensor upstream of the SCR catalytic converter (1) is replaced.



Read out and delete fault memory.



Risk of accident from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running.

Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts.

Perform engine test run and check front exhaust system (9) in the area of the NOx sensor upstream of the SCR catalytic converter (1) for leak tightness.
