Danger | Risk of death caused by vehicle slipping or toppling off of the lifting platform. | Align vehicle between vehicle lift columns and position the four support plates at the vehicle lift support points specified by the vehicle manufacturer.
Warning | Risk of burn injuries, suffocation and poisoning when working on the exhaust system and the components connected to it. Risk of suffocation and risk of poisoning caused by inhalation of gaseous and solid components of the exhaust. Risk of poisoning caused by skin contact with solid components of the exhaust. | Wear protective clothing and safety glasses. Use the extraction system. Move people out of the hazard area.
Warning | Risk of injury. Skin or eye injuries may result when handling hot or glowing objects. | Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses, if necessary.

4 | Remove the electrical wiring harness (4). | To do this, remove electrical wiring harness (4) from the retaining clamp (5) and retaining clip (6).
Installation: Check retaining clip (6) for damage.
If damage is present: | |||
| |||
replace damaged retaining clip (6).
5 | Remove bolts_(7). | M6 | |
6 | Remove soot particulate sensor (1) with control unit (8). | The soot particulate sensor (1) and control unit (8) form a single unit.
| Clean | ||
7 | Clean thread of the soot particulate sensor (1). | If a new soot particulate sensor (1) with control unit (8) is not installed.
Assembly cleaner | |||
8 | Install in the reverse order.
9 | Read out the fault memory using the diagnostic unit. | If a new soot particulate sensor (1) with control unit (8) is installed.
| Connect/disconnect diagnostic unit | ||
If corresponding faults are stored,
| |||
Erase the fault memory.
| Check | ||
Warning | Risk of accident from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running. | Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts.
10 | Check exhaust system for leaks with the engine running. | Visual inspection only. |
