 Installation: Only install engine compartment paneling after engine test run.

Remove crossmember (1)



Unclip electrical connectors (G3/3x1, G3/5x1) and electrical lines for left O2 sensors from retaining clamps

Disconnect electrical connectors (G3/3x1, G3/5x1) for left O2 sensors

Remove left NOX sensor (nitrogen oxides) (N37/5b1) from exhaust pipe

Remove left temperature sensor upstream of NOX storage catalytic (B16/1) from exhaust pipe

Remove left exhaust gas recirculation line (43/1) from exhaust pipe

Remove left catalytic converter (2) from catalytic converter bracket (4)



Detach left catalytic converter (2) from exhaust manifold by unscrewing bolts (5)

 Installation: Replace bolts (5).



Removes (6) and left catalytic converter 2) from center muffler (3)

 Installation: Clean connecting points of combustion and corrosion residues. Replace gasket (7) and bolts (6).



Remove O2 sensors from left catalytic converter (2)

When replacing the catalytic converter

 Installation: Apply heat-resistant lubricant to thread of O2 sensors.

Install in the reverse order



Inspect installation position and clearance of exhaust system

 The exhaust system must be mounted free of tension; align exhaust system if necessary.

 Danger!

Risk of accident caused by vehicle starting off by itself when engine is running. Risk of injury caused by contusions and burns during starting procedure or when working near the running engine

Secure vehicle to prevent it from moving by itself.
Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes.
Do not grasp hot or rotating parts.
