Align vehicle between vehicle lift columns and position the four support plates at the vehicle lift support points specified by the vehicle manufacturer.

Remove underbody paneling.

 Installation: Install underfloor paneling only after the leak test.

Remove soot particulate sensor downstream of SCR catalytic converter (2) from rear muffler (1).

Note on calculation of tightening torque when using insertion or socket tools with various effective lengths

 Do not disconnect electrical connector.

 Installation: Apply heat-resistant lubricating paste to thread of soot particulate sensor downstream of SCR catalytic converter (2).

Release screw clamp (3).

 Installation: Install new screw clamp (3).

 Clamp, rear muffler to diesel particulate filter

Remove spring washer (4).

 Installation: Check spring washer (4).

If spring washer (4) is damaged,



replace damaged spring washer (4).

Remove rear muffler (1).

 To do this, press rear muffler (1) out of elastomer bearings (5, 6, 7) toward the rear.



Check

Check elastomer bearings (5, 6, 7) for wear and damage.

If damage and/or wear is present,



replace affected elastomer bearings (5, 6, 7).

Install in the reverse order.



Check

Check installation position and for unobstructed movement of rear muffler (1).

If installation position of rear muffler (1) is incorrect and/or unobstructed movement not OK,



Correct installation position of the rear muffler (1).

 Warning

Risk of accident from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running.

Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts.

Check exhaust system for leaks with the engine running.
