Ensure that no persons or objects are in the swivel range of all steered axles when turning the steering wheel. Do not stand in the swivel range of the additional steering axle when the engine is running.

Pour steering gear oil into oil container (1) up to "max." Fill up to marking on steering oil level switch (ASA) (S980)

Secure vehicle against rolling

Move wheels to straight-ahead position

Raise vehicle at front axle far enough so that wheels can turn freely, and jack up vehicle

Start engine and allow to run at idle speed until air bubbles no longer rise to the surface in the oil reservoir (1)

 Note the steering gear oil level in the oil reservoir (1) and top up the steering gear oil, if necessary. The steering gear oil level in the oil reservoir (1) must not drop below the "min." mark, otherwise air will be drawn in.

Turn steering repeatedly to left and right up to mechanical end stop

 Note the steering gear oil level in the oil reservoir (1) and top up the steering gear oil, if necessary. The steering gear oil level in the oil reservoir (1) must not drop below the "min." mark, otherwise air will be drawn in.

Turn off engine

 After the engine is switched off, the steering gear oil level in the oil reservoir (1) may rise by max. 2 cm. If the steering gear oil level in the oil reservoir (1) rises by more than 2 cm, this means air is still present in the system and the bleeding process must be repeated.

Raise front axle, remove jack stands and lower vehicle

Pour steering gear oil into oil container (1) up to "max." Fill up to marking on steering oil level switch (ASA) (S980)
