Remove/install

Remove driver airbag from steering wheel (2)

Remove bolt (3)

 Bolt, mounting plate to steering wheel

Remove mounting plate (1.2) from contact plate (1.1)

Release and disconnect electrical connection (6)

Lift contact plate (1.1) in steering wheel (2) far enough until electrical connectors (4) are accessible

 Installation:
Make sure that the electrical wiring harnesses (5) are routed correctly.
Otherwise the electrical wiring harnesses (5) could be trapped and cause malfunctions.

 The number of electrical connectors (4) varies depending on the vehicle equipment.

Unlock and disconnect electrical connectors (4), and remove contact plate (1.1) from steering wheel (2)

Install in the reverse order

Perform function test on horns and buttons on steering wheel (2)

Perform function test on vibration motor of steering wheel (2) using vehicle diagnosis system

When replacing steering wheel (2).

 Select the following menu items: Diagnosis  Control units Steering wheel electronics (N135) Steering wheel vibration motor (M99) Actuations Perform actuation.
