 	Remove/install
1	Disconnect ground lead from battery		AR54.10-D-0003SD
2	Lift/jack up vehicle		AR00.60-D-1000H
3	Unscrew bolts (1) from cover (2) of retarder relay box (K1).
4	Remove cap (2)	 Installation: Make sure sealing of cover (2) is correctly seated as otherwise water may enter the retarder relay box (K1) and damage the relays (3, 4, 5)or corrosion may occur.
5	Carefully pull sealing grommets (9) downwards	 Installation: Make sure sealing grommets of cover (9) are correctly seated as otherwise water may enter the retarder relay box (K1) and damage the relays (3, 4, 5)or corrosion may occur.
6	Cut and expose ground line (8) of retarder relay box (K1)		*BA43.40-N-1011-01C
7	Cut and expose electrical line (7) from retarder relay box (K1)		*BA43.40-N-1010-01C
8	Mark installation position of electrical lines (6) in retarder relay box (K1)	 The electrical lines (6) must not be mixed up, as otherwise the retarder function will be impaired.
9	Cut and expose electrical lines (6) from retarder relay box (K1)		*BA43.40-N-1013-01C
10	Cut retarder connector (X97)
11	Remove nuts (10) of retarder relay box (K1)		*BA43.40-N-1009-01C
12	Remove retarder relay box (K1)
13	Install in the reverse order
