Remove/install

Remove noise damper downstream of charge air cooler.

 Installation: Only install upper engine cover after the leak test.

Disconnect vacuum line (3) from vacuum line (2) and seal openings with suitable stop plugs.

Remove vacuum line (2) from vacuum pump (1) and seal openings using suitable stop plugs.

 Record plug

Unclip vacuum line (2) from cable duct (8).

Unclip cable duct (8) in front area.

Unscrew screw/bolt (6).

Remove holder (7) and position with connected lines so that the vacuum pump (1) can be removed.

Remove electrical wiring harness (4) from holder (5) and place so that the vacuum pump (1) can be removed.

Remove screws (9) and vacuum pump (1).

 Installation: Replace seal (10) and observe position of driver (1.1).

Clean sealing surfaces on vacuum pump (1), cylinder head and cylinder head cover.

Install in the reverse order.

 Warning

Risk of accident from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running.

Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts.

Carry out an engine test run and check in the area of vacuum pump (1) for leak tightness.
