Align vehicle between vehicle lift columns and position the four support plates at the vehicle lift support points specified by the vehicle manufacturer.

Remove/install

Remove respective brake disk on rear axle.

Unhook front brake cable at brake compensator lever.

 Do not detach the rear brake cables.

Unhook rear retracting spring (5).

 Removal and installation tool

Remove expanding springs (2).

 Installation tool

Remove brake shoes (1) with brake adjuster (6).

 Installation: Ensure correct installation position of brake cable lock (4).
Apply a light coating of grease to brake cable lock (4) and brake shoes (1) on contact surfaces of brake carrier.

 Installation: Check brake cable lock (4) or brake adjuster (6) for ease of movement and damage.

Long-life grease

If corresponding findings are present,



Replace brake cable lock (4) or brake adjuster (6).

Slightly roughen surfaces of brakepads of brake shoes (1) and clean.

If the brake shoes (1) are reused.

Check brake shoes (1).

Minimum dimension for brake shoes incl. carrier plate

If a brake shoe (1) exhibits undersize or crack formation.



Replace brake shoes (1) on both sides of the vehicle.

Install in the reverse order

Adjust parking brake.
