Remove/install propeller shaft

 

Remove/install

Detach self-locking bolts (1b) with shims (1c) of the front propeller shaft (1) on transfer case

 Installation: Pay attention to perfect centering between the transfer case flange and front propeller shaft.

 Replace self-locking bolts (1b) and washers (1c).



Remove self-locking bolts (2a) for rear propeller shaft (2) from rear axle center section.

 Installation: Pay attention to the cleanliness of the contact surfaces on the universal joint flange and the rear axle flange and clean if necessary.

 Replace self-locking bolts (2a).

 Support propeller shaft.



Remove screws (7d) for propeller shaft intermediate bearing from frame cross member

 Installation:Propeller shaft intermediate bearingdo not distort when tightening.



Remove propeller shaft towards the rear



Checking

Check constant velocity joint, universal joints and propeller shaft intermediate bearing for wear or damage

If necessary replace propeller shaft complete.

Install in the reverse order
