Modification notes
13.1.10 | Value changed: Vehicle level - front axle | Model 169 except rough road package (code 484), except MB sports suspension (code 486), except AMG |
| Checking | ||
1 | Carry out preconditions and tests for vehicle level measurement
2 | Clean measuring points | This prevents any measuring errors.
3 | Insert measuring sensor (2) with measuring tips (4) into the measuring points (arrows) at left and right of the transverse control arm (7) and read off the vehicle level on the inclinometer (1) | The connecting cable of the measuring sensor (3) must point transverse to the direction of travel relative to the front axle carrier otherwise an erroneous measurement occurs.

Vehicle level - front axle
Electronic inclinometer
The vehicle level is not adjustable. If the measurement results are outside the tolerance, the vehicle must be examined for damage due to an accident. See:
Checking accident vehicles and vehicles possibly damaged in an accident
If there is no accident damage, new or modified springs must be installed See:
Disassemble/assemble suspension strut
4 | Remove clips (8) on left and right cover (9) and fold both covers (9) on the rear axle carrier (10) downwards
5 | Insert measuring plate (5) into lower spring cup of rear axle carrier (10) | The mounting for the measuring plate (5) fits exactly into the lower spring cup of the rear axle carrier (10). The arrow stamped onto the measuring plate (5) must face in the direction of travel.
Electronic inclinometer
6 | Apply measuring sensor (2) with measuring tips (4) onto measuring points (6) of measuring plate (5) and read off the vehicle level on the inclinometer (1) | The connecting cable of the measuring sensor (3) must point in direction of travel, otherwise an erroneous measurement occurs.
Measure vehicle level at measurement point 3 (left rear) and measurement point 4 (right rear) and store values.
