| Notes on wheels with tire pressure sensors | ||
1 | Remove wheel | ||
2 | Fully deflate air in tire
3 | Clamp wheel in tire assembly machine | The wheel brace must be oriented towards the tire assembly machine.
4 | Pry tire off rim at a position that is offset by approx. 15 cm to the tire valve (2) | Make sure that the tire pressure sensor (1) does not come into contact with the tire or the equipment. Otherwise the tire pressure sensor (1) may be damaged.
Pry off the tire far enough to enable access to the tire pressure sensor (1).
5 | Remove tire pressure sensor (1)
6 | Remove tire from rim | Removal to be in accordance with usual procedure.
7 | Remove tire valve (2) | ||
| Clean | ||
8 | Clean tire pressure sensor (1) | Only if the tire pressure sensor (1) is to be used again.
Remove all soiling with a clean, lint-free cloth only and keep the bore (A) in the tire pressure sensor (1) free of any dirt. Otherwise the tire pressure sensor (1) will be damaged.
| Install | ||
9 | Install new tire valve (2)
10 | Mount tire to rim | Mounting to be in accordance with usual procedure.
11 | Pry tire off rim at a position that is offset by approx. 15 cm to the tire valve (2) | Pry off the tire far enough to enable the tire pressure sensor (1) to be installed.
12 | Install tire pressure sensor (1) with new bolt
| Notes on self-locking nuts and bolts | ||
13 | Move tire back over the tire pressure sensor (1) to the rim contact surface | Make sure that the tire pressure sensor (1) does not come into contact with the tire or the equipment. Otherwise the tire pressure sensor (1) may be damaged.
14 | Remove wheel from tire assembly machine
15 | Inflate tires | Set tire inflation pressure to specified value.
| Correct tire inflation pressures, including spare tire | ||
16 | Fit wheel | ||
17 | Conduct a road test | From a speed of 20 km/h the tire pressure sensor (1) sends data to the tire pressure monitor (TPM) control unit. This is used as the basis for determining the status of the tire pressure sensor whereupon an automatic assignment of the position is then made.
18 | Connect Star Diagnosis, start Xentry Diagnostics and perform a quick Check
19 | Select "Status of tire pressure sensors" and check the tire pressure actual values, correct if necessary | The tire pressure actual values test is conducted fully menu-assisted at: "TPM tire pressure monitor (A35)" "Actual values" "Status (tire pressure sensor)"
