Pressing off tapered roller bearing

1 Push  between bearing cover and rear axle shaft.

2 Place rear axle shaft with  in the press.

3 Press bearing cover with radial seal ring and tapered roller bearing off rear axle shaft.

Pressing on tapered roller bearing

4 Fit locking ring (8) on axle shaft.

 Replace locking ring. The flat side must point towards the slotted nut.

The locking ring is fitted in order to ensure that the pressing on is done over the inner bearing race only.

The anti-twist lock for the circlip must lie flush to the axle-shaft recess clearance, as otherwise the axle shaft will be damaged.

5 Pass rear axle shaft through bore in .

6 Place rear axle shaft together with  in the press.

7 Press tapered roller bearing onto rear axle shaft as far as the stop.

 In order to avoid damaging the bearing, the outer race must be turned while pressing on.
