Position  dial indicator holder (1) with  dial indicator (2) at wheel hub (3).

Position dial indicator tip at axle tube (4) with preload.

Set scale of  dial indicator (2) to "0".

Move wheel hub (3) on axle tube (4) to and fro, and check wheel bearing play while doing so. 

If the wheel bearing play deviates from the specified value.



Adjust wheel bearing play.

If wheel bearing play corresponds to the specified value.



Remove  dial indicator holder (1) with  dial indicator (2) from wheel hub (3).

Unscrew outer slotted nut using  claw wrench and remove locking plate.

Only if the outer slotted nut is installed.

Adjust wheel bearing play by releasing or tightening the inner slotted nut using  claw wrench. 

 With new tapered roller bearings aim for the lower specified value.

Remove  dial indicator holder (1) with  dial indicator (2) from wheel hub (3).
