Checking

1 Attach dial indicator holder (2) and dial indicator (3) to wheel hub (1).

2 Position dial gauge probe on steering knuckle with preload.

3 Determine the wheel bearing play by moving the wheel hub (1) to and fro.

If the specification is not achieved, adjust wheel bearing play.

Adjust

4 Turn clamping nut (4) until the wheel bearing play is obtained.

If tapered roller bearings are new, aim for the lower value.
