Disconnect propeller shaft from output flange (2)

 Support propeller shaft.

Release collar nut (1)

 The locking tab must be sheared off completely as any remnants of the locking tab could damage the thread of the output shaft (5) when the collar nut (1) is unscrewed.

Unscrew collar nut (1)

 To undo the collar nuts (1) do not use an impact wrench, as otherwise the bearings of the through-drive may be damaged.



Remove output flange (2)

Check contact surface of radial shaft sealing ring (4) at output flange (2)

 If there is galling or scoring, a new output flange (2) with a new dust protective ring (3) must be installed.

Remove radial shaft sealing ring (4) from axle housing



Install

Install new radial shaft sealing ring (4)

 Coat new radial shaft sealing ring (4) without rubberized outer area with sealant.

Fit new dust protective ring (3) on new output flange (2)

 Only if the output flange (2) is to be replaced.



Lightly grease output flange (2) at contact surface of radial shaft sealing ring (4) and install

Attach output flange (2) securely using new collar nut (1)


