When dismantling the joint components, always mark the position relative to adjacent components. On running joints any incorrect assignment of the components will result in increased wear or destruction to the joint. | |||
3 | Detach hose clamp (2, 4) | ||
4 | Cut open boot (3) and detach. | ||
5 | Mark joint hub (8) relative to shaft (1) | ||
6 | Detach joint hub (8) from shaft (1) | Make sure that the bearings (6) do not slip down from the inner race's journal (5). | |
7 | Mark bearing (6) of inner race's journal (5) | ||
8 | Detach bearing (6) from inner spider (5) | ||
9 | Remove circlip (7). | ||
10 | Mark inner race (5) relative to shaft (1) | ||
11 | Detach inner race (5) from shaft (1) using suitable drift | ||
12 | Check bearing (6) and joint hub (8) for wear | Replace front axle shaft if damaged. | |

Before ordering the repair kit, determine the size of the constant velocity joint or boot (3) on the inside joint. | |||
| Install | ||
14 | Push hose clamp (2) onto the shaft (1) | ||
15 | Push boot (3) onto the shaft (1) | ||
16 | Mount inner spider (5) onto shaft (1) | Observe installation position of inner spider (5). Use a suitable plastic mallet. | |
17 | Fit circlip (7) | Replace locking ring (7). | |
18 | Install bearing (6) in inner spider (5) | Note installation position of bearings (6). | |
19 | Grease raceways in joint hub (8) | Use grease from the repair kit. | |
20 | Push joint hub (8) onto the shaft (1) | Observe installation position. | |
21 | Fill boot (3) and joint hub (8) with remaining grease | Use grease from the repair kit. | |
22 | Push boot (3) onto joint hub (8), align it and fix with hose clamps (2, 4) | When pushing on the boot (3) and then securing it using clamps (2, 4), make sure that the joint hub (8) is positioned according to the assembly dimension (a). | |
Ensure that the clamps (2, 4) are seated properly. Press together hose clamps (2, 4) to size (X) of 4 to 5 mm. | |||
