Remove bolts (2s).

Pull pinion housing (2) out of front axle differential (1).

Clean thread of drain screw in housing of transfer case (1).

Loctite 7063 (400 ml) cleaning spray

Screw drain screw into front axle differential (1) and tighten.

Replace seal.

Fill front axle differential (1) with hypoid gear oil.

Insert pinion housing (2) into front axle differential (1).


Insert pinion housing (2) into front axle differential (1) with the utmost care.
Otherwise the sealing ring (2d) will be damaged.

 To maintain the flow of oil in the pinion housing (2), the milled area (f) must face upwards.

If damage to the sealing ring is present.

Exchange front axle differential (1).

Position retaining plate (2f) on front axle differential (1) and tighten screws (2s).

 With VAG 175Collar bolt, retaining plate to front axle differential

Install propeller shaft onto front axle differential (1).

 Only install center and rear lower rear engine compartment paneling again after leak test.



Check

Check front axle differential (1) for leak tightness.

Install center and rear lower engine compartment lining.
