Fit the  slotted nut key onto slotted nut.

Clamp drive pinion using  support in a vise.

 Mount adjusting device onto pinion flange and insert  torque wrench.

Position pointer on  torque wrench to zero.

Slowly tighten slotted nut while continually turning the  torque wrench, until the specified friction torque of the drive pinion is reached on the  torque wrench.

 Do not exceed the specified value.
If the adjustment value is exceeded, the drive pinion must be disassembled again, the roll pin and the small tapered roller bearing replaced and the adjustment procedure repeated.

 Turn  torque wrench evenly and smoothly.
