Remove

1

Remove respective front axle shaft (1).

Remove/install left front axle shaft

Remove clamps (2, 4).

 Dispose of clamps (2, 4).

Remove axle boot (3) from joint hub (5).

Remove joint hub (5).

Remove retaining ring (7).

Remove bearing star (6).

Remove axle boot (3).



Clean

Clean front axle shaft (1) and joint hub (5).

Assembly cleaner

Check

Check front axle shaft (1), axle boot (3), bearing star (6) and joint hub (5) for damage.

If corresponding findings are present,



replace affected components.



Install

Slide axle boot (3) onto front axle shaft (1).

Mount bearing star (6).

Install retaining ring (7).

 Check for correct seating.

Fill axle boot (3) and joint hub (5) with grease.

 Use grease from the repair kit. Only use quantity of grease from repair kit.

Install joint hub (5).

Slide axle boot (3) onto joint hub (5).


Check for correct seating of axle boot (3) on joint hub (5) and front axle shaft (1).
Otherwise the axle boot (3) can be damaged or become leaky.


Do not apply wax or similar preservation agent to the axle boot (3).
Otherwise the axle boot (3) can be damaged.

Install new clamps (2, 4).


Install clamps (2, 4) each offset by 180° relative to corresponding clamps of wheel-end ball joint.
This prevents any imbalance on the front axle shaft (1).

Install front axle shaft (1).
