Removing

Remove complete steering knuckle (6)

Remove bushing (4) from axle housing (1)



Remove pressure plate (5) from axle housing (1)

Remove circlip (9) from pitman arm (2) or cover (3)

Drive kingpin (11) out of pitman arm (2) or cover (3)

Remove radial shaft sealing ring (10) from pitman arm (2) or cover (3)

 Do not damage the seat of the radial shaft sealing ring (10).

Remove radial shaft sealing ring (12) from steering knuckle arm (8) and take out sliding block (13)

 Only with axle model designation 730.100/108/114.

Remove bushing/needle bearing (14) from steering knuckle arm (8)

 A bushing or a needle bearing may be installed depending on the axle version.



Install

Insert pressure plate (5) into axle housing (1)

Install bushing (4) in axle housing (1)

 The hollowed-out side must point toward the axle housing (1).



Install bushing/needle bearing (14) in steering knuckle arm (8)

 A bushing or a needle bearing may be installed depending on the axle version.

After installation, grease bushing/needle bearing (14).

Install circlip (9) in pitman arm (2) or cover (3)

 Danger!

Risk of injury to skin and eyes caused by handling hot or glowing objects.

Wear safety gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses, if necessary.

Heat up pitman arm (2) or cover (3) at kingpin (11) to approx. 100 °C and install kingpin (11) with threaded hole pointing upward

Install radial shaft sealing ring (10) in pitman arm (2) or cover (3)

 Position the radial shaft sealing ring (10) with the sealing lip facing the hole.

Lightly grease sealing lip of radial shaft sealing ring (10).

Install radial shaft sealing ring (12) in steering knuckle arm (8)

 Position the radial shaft sealing ring (12) with the sealing lip facing the hole.

Fill space between dust and sealing lip with grease.

Install complete steering knuckle (6)

 Use a new kingpin (7) at the lower steering knuckle bearing.
