 Do not disassemble hub reduction gear.

Remove tie rod (1) from steering control arm (2) or from steering knuckle arm

 Tie rod (1) detaches suddenly.

Detach drag link (3) from steering knuckle arm (2) and tie to frame



with steering IF 8095The pitman arm must not be adjusted after the drag link (3) is removed.
Otherwise, the pressure limiting valves in the steering gear may be misadjusted, leading to steering malfunctions.

Shim front axle with jack and raise gently

Detach shock absorber (6) from front axle

Support vehicle frame using jack stands

Lower front axle on to jack stands

Remove springs of front axle

Remove end plate (9) and take out spacer ring and shims

Remove lubricating nipple (15)

Remove retaining ring (16) and take out shims

Screw short thread end of threaded pin of extraction tool into both parts of bearing (17)

The threaded pin of the  extraction tool must be completely screwed by hand into both parts of the bearing (17).
The threaded pin or bearing (17) can otherwise be damaged.

If the treaded pin cannot be screwed in far enough.



Move steering knuckle (11) back and forth until the threaded pin can be screwed into both parts of the bearing (17) without excessive force.

Remove steering control arm (2) or steering knuckle arm

Swivel steering knuckle (11) downwards and remove bearing (10)

 Hold the bearing (10) together.

Install sealing ring (18) in steering knuckle (11)

 Remove excess adhesive.
Make sure that the sealing ring (18) is installed at the correct position.
The vehicle must not be moved for at least 4 h because of the long curing time for the adhesive.

Apply thick coating of long-life grease to front side of sealing ring (18)

 The cavity (24) between the cassette-type sealing ring (14) and sealing ring (18) must be filled with grease after the cassette-type seal ring (14) has been installed.

 The chamfer on the fabric ring (20) must point towards the dual joint.

 Hold the bearing (10) together.
