Remove

1

Remove brake disk from front axle.

Remove anti-lock braking system (ABS) rpm sensor.

Unscrew nut (5) and remove thrust plate (4).

Attach assembly sleeve to steering knuckle spindle (2).

Detach wheel hub (3) through the assembly sleeve from steering knuckle spindle (2).

Remove assembly sleeve from steering knuckle spindle (2).

Remove protective ring (7) from steering knuckle (1).

Remove ABS pulse ring (6) from wheel hub (3).

Only when replacing ABS pulse ring (6).



Install

Mount new ABS pulse ring (6) onto wheel hub (3).

Only when replacing wheel hub (3) or ABS pulse ring (6).

Clean steering knuckle spindle (2) thoroughly using wire brush and fine-grained emery cloth.

Attach new protective ring (7) to steering knuckle (1).

Attach assembly sleeve to steering knuckle spindle (2).

Coat sealing lip of protective ring (7) with lubricant.

MB multipurpose grease, 5 kg

Coat steering knuckle spindle (2) in area of bearing seat of wheel hub (3) with lubricant.

Mount wheel hub (3) over assembly sleeve up to end stop on steering knuckle spindle (2).

Remove assembly sleeve from steering knuckle spindle (2).

17

Fit new nut (5) with new thrust plate (4).

 First tighten nut (5) while constantly turning wheel hub (3) to 1st stage.
Then tighten nut (5) to 2nd stage.

Install anti-lock braking system (ABS) rpm sensor.
