Checking
1 Set up gauge stand (2) and dial gauge (3) on front wheel hub (1).
2 Position dial gauge probe on steering knuckle with preload.
3 Ascertain wheel bearing play by rocking the front wheel hub (1) back and forth.
If the specification is not achieved, adjust wheel bearing play.
Aim for the lower value if the tapered roller bearings are new.
Adjusting
4 Turn clamping nut (4) until the wheel bearing play is obtained.
5 Check wheel bearing play again.
