Inspecting

Move the ball pin in all directions with a approximately 150 mm long pipe

The ball pin should move without play and without seizing, and should not cause any grinding noises.

Check boot (7f, 8f)

Check for cracks and damage if necessary replace supporting joint and/or upper transverse control arm.
