Remove/install

Raise vehicle and support at vehicle frame

Remove wheels from front axle

Detach compressed air lines (1) from brake cylinders and compressed air lines (11, 14) from differential locks

Disconnect plugs (10, 13) from differential locks

Disconnect plugs (8) from rpm sensors

Disconnect plugs (2) from brakepad wear sensors

Detach propeller shafts (6, 12) from the front axle

 Support propeller shafts (6, 12).

Detach drag link (3) from steering arm (4)

 The drag link (3) detaches suddenly when it is pushed off.

 Nut, drag link to steering arm

Raise front axle until leaf springs are relieved of load

Remove spring U-bolts (5) and spring plates (7)

 Nut to spring shackle of front axle

Lower front axle and pull out from under the vehicle

 Installation: Lightly grease the mounting holes for the center bolts in the front axle. When raising front axle, ensure that center bolts are inserted into mounting bores.
