1 | Secure vehicle at front axle using chocks to prevent it from rolling away. | ||
2 | Raise vehicle at rear axle and jack up at vehicle frame. | ||
3 | Remove both spring U-bolts (4) and spring seat (5). | Installation: Install both spring U-bolts (4) with new nuts (10). | |
Nut, spring U-bolt to rear axle | |||
4 | Lower or raise rear axle far enough until rear axle springs (3) are relieved of load. | ||
5 | Remove nuts (2, 8) at front and rear spring bracket. | Nut, rear axle spring to spring bracket | |
6 | Remove screws (1, 7) at front and rear spring bracket. | If necessary, drive out the screws/bolts (1, 7) using a suitable drift. | |
7 | Lower rear axle and remove rear axle spring (3) and spring support (6) from axle housing. | ||
| Long-life grease (NLGI grade 2) | ||
Installation: Apply a thin coating of grease to the mounting hole for the center bolt in the spring support (6). Lift rear axle so that the center bolt engages in the mounting bore. | |||
