Risk of death caused by vehicle slipping or toppling off of the lifting platform.

Align vehicle between vehicle lift columns and position the four support plates at the vehicle lift support points specified by the vehicle manufacturer.

Use only approved tensioning devices; additionally screen off hazardous area if necessary. Check special tools for damage and proper operation (visual inspection). Wear protective gloves.

Remove

Remove respective transverse control arm of rear axle.

Insert clamping plates and carrier plate into tensioning device.

Position clamping plates with carrier plate and tensioning device to rear axle spring (1) and clamp rear axle spring (1).

 Clamp at least three spring coils.

Remove rear axle spring (1).

 Aid of helper required.

Remove spring seat (2).



Check

Check components of rear axle spring (1) for damage and wear.

If there is a problem:



Replace damaged and worn components.

 Only replace rear axle springs(1) in pairs.



Install

Fit spring seat (2) onto rear axle spring (1).

 The travel direction arrow (arrow a) and color coding (arrow b) must face each other.

Install rear axle spring (1).

 Aid of helper required.

 The color coding (arrow b) must point toward the rear.

Relieve rear axle spring (1).

 Remove clamping plates with tensioning device and carrier plate.

Remove carrier plate and clamping plates from tensioning device.

Install transverse control arm of rear axle.
