Remove/install



Before starting work the area around the separation points on the transmission must be thoroughly cleaned. Even the smallest dirt particles, introduced into the hydraulic components, can lead to malfunctions and a total failure of the transmission

Switch off ignition

Switch off main battery switch

Danger!

Risk of death caused by vehicle slipping or toppling off of the lifting platform.

Align vehicle between columns of vehicle lift and position four support plates at vehicle lift support points specified by vehicle manufacturer.

Detach heat shield (62) and unplug connector (26)

Loosen pilot bushing (21), remove from transmission housing (2) and replace if necessary

Drain transmission oil; to do this, unscrew oil drain screw (4)

Installation: Replace sealing ring.



If the transmission oil is burnt or contains particles, the oil cooling lines and oil cooler must be flushed:

Flush oil cooler lines and oil cooler.

Remove transmission oil pan (3)

Installation: Install new gasket



Remove magnet (69) from transmission oil pan (3)

 Clean magnet (69).

Remove oil filter (5)

Remove bolt (19a) and detach electric controller unit (Y3/6)

 Pay attention to the positions of the punched windows in the pulse rings through the rpm sensor n3 hole (a) and the rpm sensor n2 hole (b).

 If the plastic part of the selector valve does not engage in the driver of the detent plate: 

Insert selector valve in driver of detent plate.

Disassemble/assemble electric controller unit (Y3/6).

Install in the reverse order

Check oil level in automatic transmission, correct if necessary

Read out fault memory with STAR DIAGNOSIS and erase if necessary

Perform transmission adaptation

Transmission adaptation must be performed after the transmission is changed or repaired.

Risk of accident caused by vehicle starting off by itself when engine is running. Risk of injury caused by contusions and burns during starting procedure or when working near the engine as it is running

Secure vehicle to prevent it from moving by itself.
Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes.
Do not touch hot or rotating parts.
