Removing

 Danger!

Risk of injury to skin and eyes caused by handling hot or glowing objects.

Wear safety gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses, if necessary.

Unscrew bolt (1)

 Heat up transmission housing beforehand in the area of the bolt (1) using a heat gun.

Remove cap (2)

 To do so, move shift lever to neutral position and push towards transmission housing as far as the stop. Using a plastic mallet, hammer on the gearshift lever until the cap (2) jumps out.

Disconnect electrical connector from reverse gear switch (S7)

Remove shift housing (3) with shift shaft (10)



Install

Secure lock pawl (9) of shift lock against turning on the shift shaft (10) using assembly device (8)

Install shift housing (3) with shift shaft (10)

 Clean sealing surfaces and coat with sealing compound.

Insert shift shaft (10) into transmission housing until the lock pawl (9) is fixed in place, then pull out the assembly device (8) and slide the shift shaft (10) all the way in.

Install new bolt (1)

 Turn shift shaft (10) with Allen wrench so that the bolt (1) engages in the notches (arrow) of the shift shaft.

Install new cap (2)

 Coat the cap (2) with quick-action adhesive and drive in all the way using a suitable drift.
