2 | Depressurize reservoir pressure of compressed air system | ||
3 | Remove cover (9) | ||
4 | Remove circlip (10) | If necessary, operate gearshift lever on shift track housing in order to allow the retaining ring (10) to be removed with minimum effort. | |
5 | Detach ball socket (1) from gearshift lever. | ||
6 | Disconnect compressed air line and electrical connection from shift module (3) | ||
7 | Remove screws (2, 6, 7) | ||
8 | Remove shift module (3) | ||
9 | Remove housing (12) | ||
| Clean | ||
10 | Carefully clean area of joint between shift module (3) and cover (4) | Dirt must not be allowed to enter inside the shift module (3) otherwise failure or malfunctions of the shift module (3) may occur. | |
As the bolts (5) are loosened during installation, a gap appears between the shift module (3) and the cover (4). Dirt can enter inside the shift module (3) through this gap. For this reason the area of the joint between the shift module (3) and the cover (4) must be cleaned. | |||

13 | Remove O-ring between cover (4) and shift module (3) | ||
| Clean | ||
14 | Clean sealing surfaces on cover (4) and on shift module (3) | ||
15 | Clean O-ring between cover (4) and shift module (3) | ||
16 | Clean sealing surfaces on shift module (3), housing (12) and transmission housing | ||
| Checking | ||
17 | Check all parts for wear and replace if necessary | ||
| Assemble | ||
18 | Fit O-ring on shift module (3) | Coat O-ring with synthetic grease. | |
19 | Install cover (4) on shift module (3) | ||
20 | Screw in bolts (5) | Do not tighten bolts (5) yet. | |
| Install | ||
21 | Coat sealing surfaces between housing (12) and transmission housing with sealant | ||
22 | Attach housing (12) to transmission | The shift mechanism in the transmission and the notch lever on the housing (12) must be in the neutral position. | |
23 | Install circlip (10). | If necessary, operate gearshift lever on shift track housing in order to allow the retaining ring (10) to be installed with minimum effort. | |
24 | Attach shift module (3) to transmission | The shift mechanism in the transmission in the shift module (3) must be in the neutral position. Coat sealing surfaces between shift module (3) and housing (12) with sealant. Do not tighten bolts (2) yet. | |
25 | Screw in bolts (6, 7) | Do not tighten the bolts (6, 7) yet. | |
26 | Tighten bolts (2) | While tightening the bolts (2) align the shift module (3) on the transmission. | |

28 | Tighten screws (5) | | |
29 | Install cover (9) on shift module (3) | Coat sealing surface of cover (9) with instant adhesive. | |
30 | Connect compressed air line and electrical connection to shift module (3) | ||
31 | Switch on ignition and fill compressed air system until the shutoff pressure is reached | See vehicle operator's manual or repair instructions. | |
32 | Check basic position of shift shaft | ||
33 | Perform test drive and check shift mechanism |
