Disassemble

Disassemble range group.

Remove planet carrier (3) from shift mechanism (arrows A).

 To do so, drive out the planet carrier (3) onto a suitable block of wood.

Remove synchronizer ring (18), synchronizer cone (17), spacer sleeve (10) and sliding sleeve (15).

Remove annular spring (16).

Remove retaining ring (14).

6

Detach synchronizer body (13) using puller.

 Use drift 04 (21) from disassembly set.

Remove carrier ring (9) and synchronizer cone (17).

Remove annular spring (12).

Remove synchronizer cone (11) from carrier ring (9).

Remove retaining ring (4) and ball bearing (5) from annulus gear (7).

Remove retaining ring (8) and detach ring gear (6) from annulus gear (7).

Remove planetary gears from planet carrier (3).

Only if the planetary gears, planet carrier (3), thrust plates or needle bearings are to be replaced.

Remove retaining ring (1) and oil pipe (2).

If installed.

 Owing to a technical modification, retaining ring (1) and oil pipe (2) must not be installed any more.



Check

14

Check all removed parts for damage and wear.

If damage or wear is present:



Replace relevant parts.



Assemble

Install planetary gears in planet carrier (3).

Insert annulus gear (7) into ring gear (6) and install retaining ring (8).

Insert ball bearing (5) into annulus gear (7) and install retaining ring (4).

Heat up ball bearing (5) to approx. 80 °C and slide onto planet carrier (3).

Install carrier ring (9).

Insert annular spring (12) into synchronizer cone (11) and press into carrier ring (9).

 Oil synchronizer cone (11).

Heat up synchronizer body (13) to approx. 80 °C and slide onto annulus gear (7).

 The long collar of the synchronizer body (13) must face towards the power output.

Install retaining ring (14).

Install annular spring (16).

Install spacer sleeve (10).

 The oil hole (B) must point toward the planet carrier (3).

Install sliding sleeve (15).

Insert annular spring (16) into synchronizer cone (17) and press into synchronizer ring (18).

 Oil synchronizer cone (17).

Heat up synchronizer ring (18) to approx. 80 °C and slide onto planet carrier (3).

Assemble range group.
