Risk of death caused by vehicle slipping or toppling off of the lifting platform.

Align vehicle between vehicle lift columns and position the four support plates at the vehicle lift support points specified by the vehicle manufacturer.

Remove

Remove transmission

Install retaining lock

Remove bolt (1)


Unscrew the bolts (1) in stages in a crosswise sequence.
Otherwise the clutch pressure plate (2) may be damaged due to tilting or distortion.

Detach clutch pressure plate (2) with clutch plate (3) from flywheel (4)



Check

Check clutch pressure plate (2) and clutch plate (3) for damage and wear

 The clutch pressure plate (2) cannot be adjusted. This is why the clutch pressure plates (2) and the clutch plate (3) may only be replaced together.

Check central clutch release bearing for wear and leaktightness

Depending on findings



Replace central clutch operator.

Remove/install central clutch operator

Check flywheel (4) for wear and damage

Depending on findings



Replace flywheel (4)

Remove/install a flywheel

Clean

Clean friction surface on flywheel (4) using coarse abrasive paper

Clean friction surface on clutch pressure plate (2) using coarse abrasive paper



Install

Place clutch plate (3) on clutch pressure plate (2) and center


The correct direction of installation is specified on the clutch plate (3); the direction of installation must be observed.
Incorrect installation will damage the clutch pressure plate (2), clutch plate (3) and the transmission.

Fix clutch pressure plate (2) in place on flywheel (4) using three bolts (1)

 Screw in the bolts (1) approx. one revolution only while doing so.

Position remaining bolts (1) and then tighten all the bolts (1)


Tighten bolts (1) in stages in a diagonal pattern.
Otherwise the clutch pressure plate (2) may be damaged due to tilting or distortion.
