Removing

Remove engine water cooling fan solenoid valve (Y5)

Clean

Thoroughly clean engine water cooling fan solenoid valve (Y5)

 

Disassemble/assemble

Clamp engine water cooling fan solenoid valve (Y5) into a vise

Open nut (1)

 The adjustment screw (2) may not be adjusted. It is essential to counterhold adjustment screw (2). The engine water cooling fan solenoid valve (Y5) must be replaced otherwise.

 Assembly: Replace nut (1).



Remove spacer washer (3)

 Assembly: Observe installation position; the higher edge on the spacer washer (3) point in the direction of the solenoid (5).

Remove O-ring (4)

Remove solenoid (5)

Remove O-ring (6)

Remove spacer washers with spring washers (7)

Remove pilot valve (8) from housing (11)

Remove spring (9) and control plunger (10) from housing (11)

Remove housing (11) from vise



Clean

Clean all parts with compressed air

 Use safety glasses.

Attention must be paid to the utmost cleanliness when working on the engine water cooling fan solenoid valve (Y5).

Check all parts for wear and damage. Replace the complete engine water cooling fan solenoid valve (Y5) in case of wear or damage.

 Assembly: Slightly lubricate all components before assembly.

Assemble in the reverse order



Install

Install engine water cooling fan solenoid valve (Y5)

Checking

Test hydraulic fan drive

 Only check fan speed on the RH engine radiator.
