1 | Inspect engine for external oil loss | Rectify any leaks. | |
2 | Determine last oil service. | If the last oil change was performed more than 15000 km or 12 month ago: | |
Perform engine oil change without oil filter cartridge. | |||
3 | Park vehicle on a level work bay. | ||
4 | Connect STAR DIAGNOSIS | ||
5 | Bring engine oil temperature to >60 °C | STAR DIAGNOSIS Select CR Common Rail. Menu point ACTUAL values/sensor overview: Determine oil temperature. | |
6 | Switch off engine | ||
7 | Wait 5 minutes before measuring oil level dipstick, set oil level if necessary to a mean value between minimum and maximum. | Step not applicable if oil has been replaced. | |
8 | Record data with STAR DIAGNOSIS | STAR DIAGNOSIS In the menu item tests: Select oil consumption measurement run/start. Follow menu prompting and carry out instructions. | |
9 | Disconnect STAR DIAGNOSIS. | ||
10 | Conduct measurement run | Have customer drive vehicle at least 1000 km in normal daily operation. Do not replenish engine oil during measurement run. | |
11 | Park vehicle on a level work bay. | ||
12 | Connect STAR DIAGNOSIS | ||
13 | Bring engine oil temperature to >60 °C | STAR DIAGNOSIS Select CR Common Rail. Menu point ACTUAL values/sensor overview: Determine oil temperature. | |
14 | Evaluate data with STAR DIAGNOSIS | STAR DIAGNOSIS In the menu item tests: Select oil consumption measurement run/end. Follow menu prompting. | |
