Remove/install alternator

Remove/install

Danger!

Risk of death caused by vehicle slipping or toppling off of the lifting platform.

Align vehicle between columns of vehicle lift and position four support plates at vehicle lift support points specified by vehicle manufacturer.

Disconnect ground line of battery

 Do not connect a quiescent current retention device. Risk of short circuit!

 Insulate ground line to prevent unintentional contact between detached ground line and battery ground point.

Remove engine trim panel

Remove belt drive cover

 Detach cover for upper belt drive cover to the front and remove upwards.

Remove engine air intake duct upstream of air filter housing and turbocharger cooling duct

Take off poly-V belt

Detach lower engine compartment paneling

Detach cable bracket from holder (3)

Remove screw/bolts (1, 2) and bracket (3)



Disconnect contact protection and detach electrical line screw connection (4) from alternator (G2)



Unplug electrical connector (5) from alternator (G2)

Loosen stabilizer bar at the front left and push away to the rear

Remove screw/bolts (6) and pull alternator (G2) downwards and out



Install in the reverse order
