Remove/install

Detach ground line of on-board electrical system battery.

Risk of death caused by vehicle slipping or toppling off of the lifting platform.

Align vehicle between vehicle lift columns and position the four support plates at the vehicle lift support points specified by the vehicle manufacturer.

Raise vehicle.

Remove lower engine compartment lining

Remove right underfloor paneling.

Release electrical connector for circuit 50 (2) and disconnect.

Detach cover cap (3) and remove nut (4).

 Nut, connection for circuit 30

Remove electric line for circuit 30 (5) from the starter (1) and place to one side.

Remove screw/bolts (6).

 Bolt, starter to timing case

Remove starter (1) downward.



Check

Check pinion (7) of the starter (1) for wear and damage.

If starter (1) is reused.

If there is a problem,



Replace starter (1).

Check starter ring gear (8) on the flywheel or on the drive plate for wear and damage.

 Slowly crank crankshaft at front on belt pulley/vibration damper.
Helper required.

replace flywheel or drive plate.

Remove/install a flywheel
