Remove/install

Remove air duct segment together with air ducts.

Remove diesel injection system control unit and place to one side with lines attached.

Remove vacuum line (4) from vacuum line (3) and seal openings with suitable stop plugs.

Remove vacuum line (3) from vacuum pump (2) and seal openings with suitable stop plugs.

Unclip cable duct of engine wiring harness in front area.

Remove electrical wiring harness (6) from bracket (5) and place to one side such that the screws (7, 8, 10) are accessible.

Unscrew bolt (7).

 Bolt, noise damper downstream of charge air cooler to mixer housing/holder for glow output stage

Remove bolts (8).

Remove screw (10).

 Installation: Before tightening the screw (10), position the screws (8) and ensure the bracket (9) is positioned correctly.

Remove bracket (5).

Disconnect electrical connectors (11) and remove glow output stage (1).

Install in the reverse order

Read out and delete fault memory.

When replacing the glow output stage (1).

 Warning

Risk of accident from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running.

Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts.
