| Remove/install | ||
1 | Remove left air filter housing.
2 | Release and disconnect electrical connector (1) of cylinder 5+6 ignition coil (T4/2).
3 | Remove screws (2). | Bolt, ignition coil to cylinder head cover
4 | Pull cylinder 5+6 ignition coil (T4/2) upwards and remove. | Cylinder 5+6 ignition coil (T4/2) and spark plug connectors form a unit and can only be removed together.
5 | Release and disconnect electrical connector (3) of cylinder 7+8 ignition coil (T4/3).
6 | Remove screw (5). | Bolt, upper heat shield to bracket/side heat shield
7 | Remove screws/bolts (4). | Bolt, ignition coil to cylinder head cover
8 | Pull cylinder 7+8 ignition coil (T4/3) upwards and remove. | Cylinder 7+8 ignition coil (T4/3) and spark plug connectors form a unit and can only be removed together.
9 | Check cylinder 5+6 ignition coil (T4/2) and cylinder 7+8 ignition coil (T4/3) for damage. | If they will be reused.
If damage is present, | |||
| |||
Replace cylinder 5+6 ignition coil (T4/2) and/or cylinder 7+8 ignition coil (T4/3) with spark plug connectors.
10 | Discharge approx. Apply about 1 g of spark plug connector grease to the spark plug connector.
Spark plug connector grease
11 | Install in the reverse order.

Warning | Risk of burn injuries, suffocation and poisoning when working on the exhaust system and the components connected to it. Risk of suffocation and risk of poisoning caused by inhalation of gaseous and solid components of the exhaust. Risk of poisoning caused by skin contact with solid components of the exhaust. | Wear protective clothing and safety glasses. Use the extraction system. Move people out of the hazard area.
Warning | Risk of accident from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running. | Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts.
12 | Conduct engine test run while checking for proper operation of the engine. |
