| Removing | ||
1 | Warm up engine to normal operating temperature
2 | Open engine hood | ||
3 | Remove service cover | ||
4 | Remove air intake line (4) on compressor (1) | Disassembly of the air intake duct (4) ensures that the compressor (1) only suctions in oil-free air.
5 | Detach compressed-air line (3) at cylinder head (1) and relieve air pressure | Counterhold fitting (2).
6 | Remove compressed air line (3) on compressor (1)
7 | Inspect compressed-air line (3) for carbon deposits | In the event of carbonization, also check compressed air lines between compressor (1), compressed air drier and the four-circuit protection valve, if necessary replace the carbonized parts.
| Checking | ||
Danger! | Risk of accident caused by vehicle starting off by itself when engine is running. Risk of injury caused by contusions and burns during starting procedure or when working near the engine as it is running | Secure vehicle to prevent it from moving by itself.
8 | Start engine and check compressor (1) for oil spitting with a test sheet | Ensure that no foreign bodies are sucked in during testing over the intake connection of the compressor (1). Consequential damage can occur otherwise.
Bring engine to maximum governed rpm using the Start engine button. Then let engine run for 60 s. at maximum governed rpm while holding the test sheet at a distance of 10 cm in front of the fitting (2) for the thrust side.
| Notes on oil consumption/oil loss with compressors | ||
9 | Assess oil ejection on basis of the test sheet | If oil loss is too high:
Replace compressor (1).
| Install | ||
10 | Replace sealing ring on the fitting (2). | Only if fitting (2) leaks.
| |||
11 | Attach compressed-air line (3) at compressor (1)
12 | Attach air intake line (4) on compressor (1)
Danger! | Risk of accident caused by vehicle starting off by itself when engine is running. Risk of injury caused by contusions and burns during starting procedure or when working near the engine as it is running | Secure vehicle to prevent it from moving by itself.
13 | Start engine and check compressed air line (3), fitting (2) and air intake duct (4) for a running engine for leaktightness then stop engine | Carry out visual inspection.
14 | Install service cover
15 | Close engine hood |
