Check axial play on rotor shaft:
1 Attach dial indicator (3) and an extension to dial indicator holder (4).
2 Place dial indicator holder (4) on an even surface on the frame.
3 Align tip of extension and dial indicator (3) with a pretension of 5 mm on rotor shaft (1) and place on it.
4 Press rotor shaft (1) all the way (arrow) and hold.
5 Set scale for dial indicator (3) to zero.
6 Pull rotor shaft (1) in the opposite direction all the way (arrow) and hold.
7 Read off measurement indicated.
The measurement value is the axial play of the rotor shaft.

Check radial play for rotor shaft:
8 Press compressor turbine wheel (2) to the side stop (arrow) and determine minimum play with a feeler gauge (5).
9 Press compressor impeller (2) onto the opposite side to the side stop (arrow) and determine largest play with a feeler gauge (5).
The two measurements must be carried out at the same point of compressor housing and at the same vane of compressor wheel.
The difference between the two measuring results is the radial play.
