Secure vehicle to prevent it from moving by itself.
Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes.
Do not touch hot or rotating parts.

Align vehicle between columns of vehicle lift and position four support plates at vehicle lift support points specified by vehicle manufacturer.

Remove engine trim panel

Remove engine charge air channel upstream of charge air cooler

 Installation: Check sealing rings and safety clips for damage and exchange if necessary. Leaks can occur otherwise.

Remove engine charge air duct on turbocharger

Remove right and left engine air intake duct upstream of air filter

Remove noise damper downstream of charge air cooler

 Installation: Check sealing ring for damage and replace if necessary. Leaks can occur on the engine otherwise.

Unplug charge air hose downstream of charge air cooler

 Unplug the charge air hose at the engine intake air duct downstream of the charge air cooler.

 Installation: Check sealing rings for damage and replace if necessary. Leaks can occur otherwise.

Disconnect connector on throttle valve actuator (M16/6)

Unplug electrical connectors from glow output stage (N14/3).

Disconnect connector from charge air temperature sensor (B17/8)

Disconnect boost pressure sensor electrical connector (B5/1x1)

Disconnect electrical connector (6) on vacuum valve

For vehicles with an EGR bypass flap

Detach vacuum hose (5) on vacuum valve

For vehicles with an EGR bypass flap

Remove bolts (9) on pipe for the exhaust gas recirculation cooler

For vehicles with an EGR bypass flap

 Installation: Install new gasket



Unscrew bolts on holder for throttle valve actuator (M16/6)



Remove retaining clips on return hose

 Installation: Check retaining clips for damage.

Unscrew bolts (1) for mixing chamber on charge air manifold



Unscrew bolts for mixing chamber on charge air manifold



Unscrew bolt on bracket of the glow output stage on cylinder head

Push hose and tubing bracket on the mixing chamber flange upwards

Remove mixing chamber upwards

 Installation: Replace sealing rings. Leaks and damage can occur on the engine otherwise.

Install in the reverse order
